Very nice! I didn't expect to have this much challenge OR narrative! Nice mini story beats. The fast-spreading fire was a surprise. (feel free to ignore: on keyboard I hit up before spraying and jumped into fire a few times. I didn't expect the spray button on ladders to make me climb down. On controller it felt weird to aim left, then straight up, and have the spray go up-and-right. I'm sure you'd polish up the controls if you had a few more hours of time. The controls felt very nice.)

I really like this game, a pretty nice and interesting concept. but i really think that there should be checkpoints.

some idea for a potential final boss fight:
given that we  saw the bio canisters, there  might be some mutant monster down there that is engulfed in flames nonstop, potentially the weird blue flames-
obviously has to be hurt by water (duh) and every once in a while, the beast like focuses power and then releases it on a big exploion, flames literally flying everywhere. you k now, like when the doors blow open, just that that the fiee blast is away from the beast in a circle.

then obviously have it walk around a bit left and right, sometimes spewing flames towards your direction (can be blocked by the water shower thing).

and maybe have some mechanism there. caus, you know it's the final boss and he is in undying blue flame and whatever, so your tiny water thrower doesnt have the water pressure to kill his flames off.
so there might be a big water reservoir somewhere upstairs, which by some platforming or other lengthy methods you have to release, so it flows down into the conveniently shaped area where the boss is and basically drowns the boss.

so even if the flames dont really die off, they cant ignite again cause if they do, the surrounding water will put them out again.
boss defeated, world saved, find some good story on why there happened some weird mutant biogenetics accident that turned the random animal into some fire god beast :-)

seriously, give this game a boss fight and some badass music and it's amazing! :-)

This is fantastic but I wish that you could aim diagonally down and spray while moving and jumping.

Great game! This could definitely be improved with powerups, different sprayers, or upgrades. I feel this could be a great concept for a full release. The only problem was the purple fire: it was a bit too annoying for my style. The controls were a bit weird as well. Amazing for just 3 days!

great game, but I have just one question: how do I get past the purple fire that starts itself even when you put it out? I really want to finish this game and I am really bummed out that I can't move on.

I expected a big flaming reactor at the end, but I thoroughly understand it's a jam game. The result looks fantastic. Thank you! Playing Nuclear Blaze was great fun. Honestly, I thought it was going to say "No real ending... Wishlist us now! Available on XX/XX/XX on Steam". This could make a great fully developed game.

I got stuck on the final level, when I came back with a fresh head the solution was clear. Great game!

Reminds me of the opening sequence of Super Metroid. It definitely created a feeling of desperation and urgency. A killer soundtrack and some effects would make the experience even better.

it was really fun but it needs more checkpoints in the longer levels

you need to fix the controls because you have up also assigned to jump as well as z it is too easy to press up when you're trying to shoot water and jump instead. because I did not press the buttons right I killed myself by doing this so to avoid this just have one button assigned to jump instead of two. Make z for jump and use up only to aim with. this way people won't accidentally kill themselves as i did.

really cool, noticed how in the last level you were under a slight time restriction before the fires started back up again if you didnt get rid of all the fire

If you go above the fire on the first fire you can't get back down

Also there's no texture on the first level. Also on the first level its just black and red is this intended or a glitch?
